Unauthorized Changing of Locks | Duplicate Key Request Letter

Tenants, from time to time, will take it upon themselves to change the locks and deliberately not provide a duplicate key to the landlord. Almost all lease/rental agreements specifically prohibit and some state laws require that landlords have keys to rental/apartment units. Letter informs tenant of unauthorized lock change, request for duplicate key, warns what may happen if an emergency occurs and requests tenant contact with landlord’s office immediately.
